The Mermaid Womb: Remembering Our Aquatic Feminine Nature

Mermaid Memories – Rebirthing into the Aquatic Nervous System

There was a time when we were all mermaid beings.
Deep in the womb of the Mother, swimming in cosmic consciousness, visionary remembrance and fluid physicality.

It was here where we lived in at-onement with the great ocean, interconnected with all things. At peace, in expanded openness, free in our essence.

Yet as they say, all good things have to come to an end. (Do they?)

And birth into the earthly realm was calling us.
As visionary, sensitive souls this was no easy task.

While not understanding what was going on, we could feel.
We felt the density of this realm and the man-made inorganic structures that are ruling this planet, which create contraction, pain, disconnection and hardship.

For most of us the rites of passage (that has been lost) of our mothers birthing us were an experience of great grief, terror and dissociation.

We entered the planet physically, yet one part of our consciousness stayed behind.

Understandably. Why would we not want to stay in this dreamy, nourishing, liquid realm of slumber where all is at peace?

Why would we want to be on this earthly realm where disconnection, stress and suffering are the dominant frequency of existence?

No one showed us the beauty of the body and the senses, the magic of Mother Earth, the rituals and rites of passage it takes to transition, and how this experience is not separate from our aquatic self.

And because no one did, we entered this planet believing it was. And the deep grief of disconnecting from our mermaid self shaped our reality.

Forced into systems and uniforms, the body taking the toll of tension, contraction and sometimes even severe illness.

All because no one told us how we belong here.

Deep in our psyche we made it our life’s quest to return to this aquatic place where we once were One.

Sometimes through hardening and buckling up, disconnecting even further, as being tender, soft and a doormat for society was not an option anymore. Other times through dissociating fully and finding solace in the spirit realms outside of our bodies.

I can say that on my own journey of over a decade of reclamation, remembrance and embodiment, I still find myself deeply at home in the aquatic layer of consciousness.

Yet the journey is to learn how to integrate this part of us in the body and human realm, and let it transform into the most glorious gift that we can bring to this planet.

But to do that we must face the magical terror that lies behind the closed curtains of dissociation from the body and the womb.

We must meet those parts and journey with them in quiet and slow presence, letting rush and pressure dissolve.

We must grieve the memories of the lost waters and accept that now we are in the body, and have faith there is a new experience awaiting us that has magic up its sleeve if we only allow it and open our eyes.

We must choose to incarnate (enter the body) fully and let our eros and sensuality be a gateway for that, as here is where those worlds collide.

We must anchor and inhabit our core and walk as the jaguar priestess we came here to be, while simultaneously allowing our aquatic softness to live on.

We must grow up while letting our inner child be free.

It is in our hands to shape our future and create a new womb architecture that lives in reverence and remembrance of the natural and organic way of life.

And it begins with us.
